Amman, In continuation of last week meeting of His Majesty King Abdullah with representatives and leading figures from Aqaba, and upon royal directives, Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi on Saturday met with the city’s representatives to find out their demands, proposals and needs.

Issawi, who is also head of the follow up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, said this meeting held under direct royal directives, to complete the discussion about priorities, demands and needs of the city of Aqaba.

His Majesty the King always stresses the importance of easing pressure on citizens and finding opportunities to reduce poverty and unemployment, especially by supporting small and medium projects and home projects for youth, women and associations, and facilitating the process of financing and licensing this type of project, Issawi said in the meeting, held in the Royal Hashemite Court.

He added that there is a royal interest in these projects, which will have a great impact on the development of Aqaba in various fields, which will reflect positively on providing jobs and improving the quality of services provided to the people of Aqaba and Jordanians in general.

He noted that several projects of royal initiatives were implemented during the past years, in various regions of Aqaba Governorate, covering many development and service sectors.

He pointed out that the focus will be, during the next stage, on productive and development projects that provide jobs for young people.

For their part, Aqaba representatives and leading figures stressed the importance of the King’s visits to the city, which reflect His Majesty’s keenness to continuously communicate with the sons and daughters of the region to check on their needs and demands and listen to them.

The speakers also highlighted a number of issues in Aqaba Governorate. They called for supporting the tourism and economic sector, improving the infrastructure, and providing job opportunities for young people, which would eradicate poverty and unemployment, in addition to activating the Youth and Entrepreneurship Commission to be an incubator for the rehabilitation and training of young people and owners of small projects.

They also called for establishing alternative energy projects that contribute to providing electricity and water for the governorate, and help reduce burdens on all segments of society and investments and enhance the tourism and investment attraction of the city, as a tourist hub.
