Vatican city: Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin on Monday warned against the world "getting used to the massacre" taking place in the Gaza Strip. Speaking to reporters, Parolin highlighted the severe consequences of the ongoing war in Gaza, urging the international community to do more than just declare the situation unacceptable.
According to Jordan News Agency, Parolin described the situation in Gaza as "more dangerous and tragic than last year," following a prior devastating conflict that resulted in tens of thousands of casualties. He emphasized the dire conditions where individuals are losing their lives while searching for basic necessities, buried under their destroyed homes, or targeted in hospitals and camps. The displaced population faces the challenge of relocating within a cramped and densely populated area.
Cardinal Parolin condemned the notion of reducing human beings to "mere collateral victims" and reaffirmed the Vatican's stance that the resolution to the Middle East conflict lies in the establishment of "two peoples in two states." He expressed concern over Israeli statements and decisions, which he believes are counterproductive to the establishment of a genuine Palestinian state.
