Amman: Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abu Saud met with a delegation from the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development to discuss cooperation, focusing on strategic water projects, including the national carrier project.

According to Jordan News Agency, the delegation included the fund's Chairperson and Director General Mirza Hassan, Technical Director Imad Imam, and Economic Advisor Mahmoud Nabi. Abu Saud reiterated Jordan's dedication to advancing the Red Sea desalination project, a significant initiative aimed at ensuring sustainable water resources through partnerships with both local and international private sectors. He stressed the importance of utilizing renewable energy to address water demands and commended the Arab Fund's interest in contributing to this essential initiative.

Abu Saud expressed gratitude for the support of Kuwait and the Arab Fund in tackling Jordan's water challenges, particularly in light of climate change, drought, and population growth. He highlighted government efforts to develop water resources, improve efficiency, and adopt modern agricultural technologies while reducing water losses and expanding renewable energy programs.

Hassan, on behalf of the Arab Fund, reiterated the fund's commitment to supporting the national carrier project and advocated for strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors. He detailed the fund's strategy to assist Jordan and other member states by financing high-impact projects, boosting employment, and advancing vocational and technical training to reduce unemployment.

The Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, established in 1968 and headquartered in Kuwait, has financed 51 projects in Jordan, focusing on health, education, social development, water, and sanitation.
