Amman: Minister of Water and Irrigation, Raed Abu Saud, announced that the Jordanian government, in collaboration with the ministry, is intensifying efforts to expedite the implementation of several projects financed by the French Development Agency (AFD). This initiative aligns with the Economic Modernization Vision and strategic plans for the water sector.
According to Jordan News Agency, Abu Saud emphasized the importance of optimizing water use during his meeting with an AFD delegation visiting the Kingdom. He highlighted the necessity of reducing water loss, enhancing efficiency, curbing unauthorized usage, and expanding water harvesting projects. The minister also stressed the need to promote water awareness across the nation.
Abu Saud urged the completion of the National Water Carrier Project, a significant national initiative aimed at bolstering social security in Jordan. He reviewed the progress of ongoing projects across various governorates, which focus on minimizing water loss by enhancing operational systems. These projects also aim to support climate adaptation, improve water and energy efficiency, and fortify water security measures. Efforts include modernizing water management procedures and automating processes within water companies.
He expressed gratitude towards the French agency for its pivotal role in securing the necessary funding for these projects. Abu Saud acknowledged AFD's contributions in supporting the water sector's plans and programs, highlighting the alignment of these efforts with Jordan's overarching strategic objectives.
