Aqaba: A workshop titled "Green Transformation in Private Sector Institutions: Why? And How?" concluded in Aqaba on Wednesday, organized by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) with support from the European Union, in partnership with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ).
According to Jordan News Agency, the ASEZA Commissioner for Environment and Public Safety, Nedal Ouran, emphasized the Authority's dedication to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals and spearheading the shift toward green and blue economies. Ouran articulated that the transition to sustainability is necessitated by pressing environmental and global challenges.
He highlighted that ASEZA, in collaboration with its partners, is in the process of developing the Kingdom's inaugural national blue economy strategy. This strategy is designed to align with the Economic Modernization Vision, focusing on promoting sustainable resource use, economic growth, and quality employment opportunities.
The workshop covered an array of topics, including the green transition, energy efficiency, the circular economy, and environmental and social governance (ESG). It also spotlighted financing opportunities for green projects through the Green Economy Financing Program. The event aimed to enhance awareness among small and medium-sized enterprises regarding the adoption of sustainable practices to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and boost competitiveness.
