Amman: A workshop to update Jordan's national occupational standard for the 'water auditor' profession was wrapped up on Monday, with a focus on competencies and skills required for the profession under approved standards. The event aimed to enhance the professional framework for water auditors, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary expertise to manage water resources effectively.
According to Jordan News Agency, the workshop was organized by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation's Strategic Planning Department, through the Water Demand Management Directorate. This initiative was carried out in cooperation with the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions, and received support and funding from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Participants in the workshop engaged in a comprehensive review and update of the occupational standard for water auditors. They worked to identify the specific tasks, competencies, and skills essential for professionals in this field, as outlined by the ministry in a statement.
The ministry emphasized that the workshop is part of broader efforts to institutionalize water auditing in Jordan. It is aimed at building specialized national capacity to improve water-use efficiency and reduce consumption across the nation.
This initiative is intended to prepare a qualified workforce capable of conducting water audits in compliance with approved professional standards, ultimately contributing to the sustainable management of water resources in Jordan, as stated by the ministry.
