President of Yarmouk University (YU), Dr. Islam Massad, discussed with the Founder and Head of the Innovation Think Tank (ITT) at Siemens Healthcare in Germany, Dr. Sultan Haider, and representative of its regional office, Sayed Mahdi, ways to launch joint research and training cooperation programs and projects.

Massad pointed to the importance of stimulating YU’s students to develop their potentials and expand their scientific awareness, which would enable the university’s alumni to be armed with creativity and innovation in various fields.

On future projects, Massad pointed out the possibility of launching a Siemens incubator, specialized in leadership and innovation at the university’s Hijjawi College of Technology Engineering and train YU’s students in a company’s approved program in the medical devices and equipment areas.

The talks also tackled cooperation in the establishment of a fellowship program to send YU’s researchers, faculty members and students to the company’s various laboratories and incubators.

Haider, for his part, presented the company’s services to students at various educational levels, focusing on medical technology and health care fields.

The company’s mission and vision, Haider said, seek to support “pioneering” initiatives, especially with universities and hospitals in various countries worldwide, voicing its readiness to cooperate with the university to establish an incubator for leadership and innovation.
