Manama:Yemeni Foreign Minister Afrah al-Zouba engaged in discussions with the UK's Middle East and North Africa Minister Stephen Doughty on Sunday during the Manama Dialogue 2026. The discussions revolved around the latest developments in Yemen.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the talks focused on strengthening bilateral ties and efforts to counter the Houthi movement. The meeting also highlighted the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Taiz, a region in southwestern Yemen besieged by the Houthis.
Minister Doughty expressed the UK's ongoing support for Yemen's internationally recognized government. The conflict in Yemen began in 2014 when the Houthis took control of the capital, Sanaa, leading to a Saudi-led military intervention in 2015 to back the legitimate government. This conflict has resulted in one of the worst humanitarian crises globally, with millions relying on aid.
