Youth Empowerment and Media Responsibility Seen as Pillars in Jordan’s Modernization Efforts

Deir Alla: Minister of Government Communication and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani emphasized the importance of youth empowerment as a strategic imperative in Jordan's modernization efforts. Speaking at an event organized by the Wadi Youth Charitable Society, Momani addressed the significance of values like loyalty and civic engagement, highlighting their role in shaping Jordan's future.

According to Jordan News Agency, Momani stressed the critical role of responsible media in countering misinformation and enhancing public trust. He underscored the necessity of public awareness to differentiate between verified information and disinformation, noting the importance of an informed citizenry in supporting national media efforts.

During the event, which coincided with Jordan's Independence Day, Momani remarked on the day's significance beyond ceremonial commemoration, describing it as a national pact for progress. He acknowledged the regional challenges Jordan faces and called for unified efforts to adhere to national principles and development priorities.

Momani outlined government initiatives in collaboration with the private sector to promote entrepreneurship and innovation, emphasizing technological advancements like artificial intelligence as crucial for progress in various sectors.

On the topic of media, he highlighted its role beyond information dissemination, advocating for credible media institutions and partnerships with civil society to enhance national dialogue. He praised the Wadi Youth Charitable Society's initiatives, noting them as models of community engagement.

The meeting concluded with a dialogue between Momani and the youth attendees, focusing on media and youth issues. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to engaging with civil society and supporting initiatives across governorates.

Additionally, Ibrahim Awamleh, Chairman of the Balqa Governorate Council, called for the regulation of online media platforms to protect the public from misinformation.

The event ended with a call to strengthen national discourse, safeguard against disinformation, and uphold values of loyalty and belonging as foundations of unity and stability.
