Youth minister meets World Bank delegation, Japanese social development fund reps

Minister of Youth Mohammad Nabulsi met with a World Bank delegation and the Project Management Unit, in the presence of the World Bank’s (WB) Jordan Resident Representative Holly Benner, and representatives of the Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF).

According to a ministry statement on Tuesday, Nabulsi was briefed on the outputs of the World Bank delegation’s “Providing Social Services for the Most Affected Youth” project, and the progress of the youth tourism training project, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Youth and funded by the WB through the JSDF.

Nabulsi hailed the partnership with the bank and the fund and the efforts exerted in implementing the project’s plan and programs and the training opportunities they provided to young people in vital sectors, including tourism, hotel and technology.

He stressed the ministry’s commitment to providing youth with the necessary skills to enter the labor market as part of the national youth strategy’s youth and economic empowerment theme with the aim of establishing partnerships with the public and private sectors in implementing programs that empower youth and build their capabilities.

For her part, Benner underscored the World Bank’s commitment to enhancing economic opportunities for youth through skills development programs that train young people for the labor market.

In turn, the representative of the JSDF gave a briefing on the progress of the project, which aims to develop the skills of young men and women in the field of hotel and tourism services; the field visits carried out by the mission to the project work site; the skills and knowledge gained by young people during their training; and enabling young people to be able to establish and sustain small- medium-sized projects, in addition to networking with the various components of the local community.
