Kyiv:Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has claimed that Russia lost 54,400 troops either killed or seriously wounded in October, marking what he described as the highest monthly toll since the conflict began.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, Zelenskyy also noted that Ukrainian forces regained control of 96.2 square kilometers (37.1 square miles) of land in October, surpassing the area captured by Russian forces by 10.4 square kilometers during the same timeframe.
Zelenskyy further highlighted that on October 21, Russian forces suffered 2,250 casualties, which he labeled as a 'record' for daily losses. He emphasized that Russia is experiencing significant losses while Ukrainian forces continue to defend their positions and reclaim territory. He urged that to prevent further losses, Russia should opt for a ceasefire and engage in diplomatic efforts.
The Russian government has not issued a statement in response to Zelenskyy's claims, and the figures remain unverified by independent sources due to the ongoing nature of the conflict.
