1 Child Dies, 7 Injured in East Amman Home Fire

Amman: One child died and seven others were injured in a fire that engulfed a house in a neighborhood of Amman on Wednesday, the Public Security Directorate spokesman said. He stated that the fire and ambulance crews of the Central Amman Civil Defense Directorate responded to a blaze in an apartment on the third floor of a building in the Prince Hassan neighborhood of East Amman this afternoon.

According to Jordan News Agency, the spokesman revealed that a four-year-old toddler succumbed to severe burns while seven others suffered burns and asphyxiation after inhaling gases from the blaze. The medics provided first aid to the injured children before rushing them to the Prince Hamzah Hospital. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
