14-day institutional quarantine for Jordanians arriving from 7 African countries – says official

Advisor at the Prime Ministry for Health Affairs Adel Balbisi, on Thursday, said that Jordanians residing in South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Mozambique will undergo a set of measures to enter the Kingdom.

The measures for Jordanians arriving from these countries include having a negative PCR test conducted within 72 hours prior to departure from these countries, visiting https://gateway2jordan.gov.jo to complete the required travel declaration form and obtain the QR code which is mandatory for boarding, and committing to 14-day institutional quarantine, the National Center for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM) said.

The NCSCM added that children below 5 years of age are excluded from the measures.

65 percent of non-Jordanians have not received any dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, Balbisi told Petra, urging them to head to vaccine centers countywide without facing any legal implications.

Industry Minister, Czech envoy discuss economic cooperation

Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yousef Shamali, on Thursday, discussed with Czech ambassador in Amman Josef Koutsky ways to further enhance economic cooperation between Amman and Prague.

The sides also discussed preparations for convening he meetings of the second session the Jordanian-Czech Joint Committee during the second half of 2022, in addition to holding a forum for businessmen on the sidelines of the committee’s meetings.

In 2020, Jordanian exports to the Czech Republic amounted to only $126,000, decreased by 15 percent, while the value of imports from the Czech market stood at nearly $38.4 million, reduced by 5 percent compared to 2019.

Jordan registers 28 COVID-19 related deaths, 4665 infections on Thursday

28 new deaths and 4665 cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were recorded in Jordan on Thursday.

With today’s fatalities and infections, the caseload and death toll from the disease have increased to 11,661 and 963,655 respectively, since the outbreak began in March of 2020, according to the Ministry of Health daily brief.

The number of cases that required admission to hospitals today stood at 202, while 136 cases have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.

On the capacity of hospitals in the Kingdom, the brief said that the occupancy rate of isolation beds in the northern region was at 29 per cent, intensive care beds 50 per cent and ventilators 31 per cent.

In the Central region, isolation beds were at an occupancy rate of 27 per cent, ICU beds at 38 per cent and ventilators 18 per cent, it said.

In the south, it added, the occupancy rate of isolation beds reached 12 per cent, ICU beds 14 per cent and ventilators 10 per cent.

It said that 51,029 PCR tests were collected today, bringing the total number of tests conducted since the start of the pandemic to 12,271,386, and that the positivity rate today was about 9.14 per cent.

24-hour suspension of COVID-19 vaccines in number of centers

The Ministry of Health announced the suspension of administering the coronavirus vaccine to citizens at the Prince Faisal Hall Vaccination Center in Qwaismeh on Friday, Dec. 3.

The ministry said that it will resume operations Saturday, Dec. 4

The ministry also announced that it will suspend administering the vaccine in all vaccination centers in Al-Hussein Sports City for Youth (Ya Hala Hall 1, and Ya Hala Hall 2) on Sunday, Dec. 5 only, and resume it on Monday, Dec. 6.

The Ministry of the Interior is looking into security arrangements to open the Korean Embassy in Tripoli.

Tripoli, The Director of Relations and Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Interior, Dean “Salah al-Din bin Suleiman” met today, Thursday, with the South Korean ambassador to Libya and his assistant, in the presence of the head of the International Cooperation Office in the department.

The media office of the Ministry of Interior said that the meeting came as an extension of the previous meeting to discuss and coordinate security in the security arrangements for reopening the Korean embassy in Tripoli.

The media office added that the meeting discussed aspects of cooperation and support in the security field and the possibility of implementing a number of training programs in the field of information technology, combating cybercrime, and benefiting from Korean expertise in this field.

Commissioner General of Jordanian Pavilion participates in UAE’s 50th anniversary

Secretary-General of the Ministry of Investment, Commissioner General of the Jordanian Pavilion in Expo 2020, Zaher Qatarneh participated at the celebration of the United Arab Emirates’ 50th anniversary.

Qatarneh met with UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, Commissioner General of Dubai Expo 2020, Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation and Dubai Expo 2020 Director-General Reem Al Hashimy.

During the two meetings, Qatarneh valued the continued support provided by the UAE and the Expo 2020 administration to make the Jordanian participation a success, stressing the Kingdom’s keenness to actively participate in this global event, which the UAE succeeded in organizing in a distinctive way.

Al-Fayez participates in 24th Session of the World Tourism Organization

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Al-Fayez, on Thursday, took part at the 24th Session of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) General Assembly currently convened in Madrid.

The four-day gathering will bring together 1,000 participants including 84 ministers and deputy tourism ministers and representatives from 125 countries, which aims to restart and lead the sustainable recovery of the sector badly hit by the pandemic.

Addressing the global gathering, Al-Fayez said that, “The COVID-19 pandemic, which shook the whole world, was the biggest challenge facing the tourism sector and various other sectors, pointing out that the interruption of the arrival of foreign tourists to Jordan due to the pandemic caused great damage to the tourism sector”.

He indicated that Jordan has worked in the past decade to develop rural tourism in partnership with women and young people from local communities, stressing that the growth and development of this type of tourism contributes to increasing tourist attractions.
