JCCA president meets Palestinian counterpart

President of the Jordanian Constructions Contractors Association (JCCA) Ayman Al Khudari on Saturday met with President of the Palestinian Contractors Union Aladdin Al Al-Araj, who is currently visiting Amman.

The meeting covered the ongoing cooperation between the two sides in various areas serving both national and contractor issues.

Al Khudari underlined the JCCA national role in supporting the resilience of the brothers in Palestine through its participation in the Higher Committee for Reconstruction in Palestine – in Jordan, composed of (the JCCA, Engineers’ Association and Investors’ Association, in cooperation with the Jordan Industry and Commerce Chambers).

The Higher Committee for Reconstruction in Palestine – in Jordan, under the umbrella of the Arab International Organization for Reconstruction in Palestine, spared no effort to support the people of Gaza and their steadfastness against the occupying power’s aggression, Al Khudari said.

In turn, Al-Araj pointed out to the challenges facing the Palestinian constructions sector, due to the limited disbursement of financial payments to contractors and the lack of Palestinian employment, as well as the accelerated rise in the prices of raw materials as a result of the occupying power’s siege, commended the vital and continuing role of Jordanian contractors in supporting the Palestinian people in general and Palestinian contractors in particular.

Hayat Fund for Education offers “Zarqa boy” full university scholarship

The Hayat Fund for Education has offered a full university scholarship to Saleh Hamdan, known as the Zarqa Boy, after he passed the high school (Tawjihi) exam and scored an 85 per cent average.

“The scholarship is part of the Fund’s work, methodology and mission to support unprivileged students who suffer difficult living conditions, and enable them to complete their educational path,” the Fund’s Chairman Mousa Saket, said Saturday in a statement.

The Fund, in cooperation with the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) office in Jordan, had earlier announced the provision of university scholarships to outstanding students from poor families, in accordance with mechanisms and standards adopted in providing support to both parties.

The Hayat Fund for Education is a charitable organization established in 2009 and aims at providing education for financially incapable students in universities and vocational institutes, enhancing their capabilities and enabling them to enter the labor market, through the university education program, the vocational training and rehabilitation program, and the community service and capacity building program.

Price of 21-karat gold stood at JD35.8 per gramme in local market

Prices of 21-karat gold, the highest demand at local market, stood at JD35.80 per gramme, as purchasing price, against JD34.30 as selling price, an official said Saturday.

Jordan Jewelers Association’s Secretary General, Ribhy Allan, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the price of 24-karat and 18-karat gold amounted to JD42.20 and JD31.90 respectively.

The price of a Rashadi lira, weighing seven grammes, stood at JD253, while an English lira, which weighs eight grammes reached JD288, Allan said.

He added that gold prices in global markets on Friday went down to reach $1746 per ounce.

Digital transformation key to improve Jordan’s investment environment-Stakeholder

Representative of the communications and information technology sector in the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Haitham Rawajbeh, said digital transformation is a key pillar for improving the business environment and attracting foreign investments.

In a statement on Saturday, he noted business owners and investors send their investments to countries with ready and developed infrastructure in digital transformation and service automation, calling for establishing a specialized body for this purpose, in partnership between the public and private sectors.

The region’s countries today have rapid changes in this file, which requires work to keep pace with these developments by accelerating pace of Jordan’s digital transformation, building related capabilities and stimulating creativity and e-trade, according to Rawajbeh.

Digital transformation helps develop economic plans based on “true” data, he noted, pointing to the government services provided through Sanad application, which have “significantly” doubled during the recent period.

Noting the need to focus on research and manpower training on new technologies in this regard, he said this process will also contribute to enhancing Jordanian government revenues and improving services provided to citizens.

Shboul: Political modernization, economic vision need appropriate administrative environment

State Minister for Media Affairs Faisal Shboul said that the political modernization system and the Economic Modernization Vision need an appropriate administrative environment.

In an interview with Jordan Television’s “60 Minutes” program on Friday, Shboul said the Committee to Modernize the Public Sector, chaired by the prime minister, constitutes a national effort in this regard and includes experts from the private and public sectors.

Shboul said that the public sector modernization map will be submitted to the Cabinet for study as the ministerial committees and sectoral teams to be formed to start implementing it, stressing the government’s openness to any ideas, objective observations or constructive criticism raised in this regard.

He pointed out that the government will start applying the first models of the public sector modernization map, which includes the establishment of the first comprehensive center for government services in the Muqablain area, indicating the government’s intention to expand the idea of this center and circulate it to all governorates through the establishment of 15 comprehensive government centers next year.

Commenting on the abolition of the Labor Ministry, Shboul said law enforcement tasks in relation to the ministry will be carried out by other government institutions such as the Ministry of the Interior.

Al-Shboul said that one of the main subjects of the public sector modernization map is the employee, stressing that the government does not aim to dispense with any employees’ services, but rather seeks to train and re-qualify them, in addition to digitizing procedures in order to facilitate access to service.

Commenting on Children rights bill, the minister said the draft law was submitted to the Lower House, where the legislators have the right to amend or delete some articles, in addition to their right to a final vote on the entire law.

Rawajbeh also noted Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision stressed the need to accelerate pace of the public sector’s digital transformation by launching partnerships with private institutions, which have “remarkable” expertise in this regard.

At the regional level, he said many Jordanian companies have implemented digital transformation projects in Arab countries.

Global companies have expressed interest to open regional offices in the Kingdom to serve the region’s countries and benefit from Jordan’s expertise and competencies working in the ICT sector, he noted.

Jordan’s ICT sector has “remarkable” opportunities for growth and expansion, with a solid and advanced digital infrastructure, qualified human resources capable of competing globally, and a set of laws and legislations that include many incentives, he said.

Jordanian companies operating in the ICT sector have made multiple achievements, substantially grown and developed, and now support many regional countries by providing digital transformation solutions for their various commercial and service sectors, he pointed out.

Locally, he said introduction of 5G services into Jordan is a step in the right direction, which would enhance the Kingdom’s competitiveness and accelerate the technical development of the ICT sector, in addition to supporting investment environment, in line with Economic Modernization Vision.

Fair weather forecast almost countrywide to Tuesday-JMD

Mercury on Saturday will be around its seasonal averages and usual weather is forecast to prevail almost countrywide, while hot conditions will hit Badia, Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba, Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said its daily update.

According to the JMD report, similar weather is expected to prevail on Sunday as the day earlier with northwesterly moderate winds.

On Monday and Tuesday, the weather will remain around its normal average and no substantial change is set to occur on the forecast.

Also on Saturday, temperatures in Amman will range between 32 degrees Celsius, sliding to 19C at night, while the port city of Aqaba will see a scorching 40C, dipping into 27C during night hours.

Health Minister opens Sakhrah Comprehensive Health Center in Ajloun

Minister of Health Dr. Firas Hawwari on Saturday opened the Sakhrah Comprehensive Health Center in Ajloun Governorate.

Hawwari stressed the ministry’s concern with developing primary health care services in all governorates of the Kingdom, pointing out that the opening of the Sakhrah comprehensive health center is a result of the ministry’s follow-up on the area’s needs for these services and its understanding of their provision mechanisms.

“The Ministry of Health promotes health services efficiently and effectively and develops health care services in the Kingdom to achieve citizens’ satisfaction with these services,” Hawwari emphasized.

He said that the centre was staffed with the necessary medical personnel in several medical specializations.

“It provides therapeutic services such as general medicine, dental, family and women’s services. It also provides other primary health care services such as maternity and childhood services, vaccination, neonatal medical surveys, health enhancement, school health, water and environmental health control” the minister added.

Hawwari valued the significant role played by staff working in health centres and public hospitals, whether medical, technical or administrative, to serve patients and visitors.

For his part, Director of Health Affairs in the governorate, Dr. Tayseer Annab, said that the 2400 square metre health centre will provide services to people and visitors in Ajloun’s Shakra and Ebbin areas, stressing the importance of establishing health centres that meet the conditions and general health bases to improve the level of service provision for visitors and patients.
