House speaker conveys King’s greetings to Iraq leaders

Baghdad, Lower House Speaker Ahmed Safadi on Wednesday met with Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia’ Al Sudani, and Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani.

In his meeting with heads of the Iraqi parliamentary blocs, in the presence of Jordan Ambassador to Iraq, Montaser Al-Uqla, Safadi conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah to Rashid, Al Sudani and Barzani during separate meetings he held with them.

Safadi reaffirmed Jordan’s supportive stance, led by His Majesty King Abdullah, for all efforts aimed at strengthening the security and stability of Iraq as a fundamental pillar of the region’s security and stability.

He said that the parliaments of the two countries must exert more efforts to overcome legislative obstacles related to the Jordanian, Iraqi, Egyptian economic integration projects, stressing that Jordan maintains the same distance from various Iraqi components, and views Iraq as the depth of Jordan and its Arab nation.

He added that the two countries share a history and common interests, so Jordan, led by His Majesty the King, was keen to make the Baghdad Conference for Partnership and Cooperation, which was recently held in the Dead Sea region, a success.

The Iraqi president expressed his country’s appreciation for King Abdullah’s supportive stances to the security, unity and stability of Iraq, calling for investing the outcomes of the Baghdad conference in a way that achieves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mohammad Shia’ Al Sudani reaffirmed the Iraqi government’s appreciation for the King’s efforts to support the security and stability of Iraq and his endeavor to achieve the Jordanian-Iraqi-Egyptian trilateral economic integration, stressing the importance of the projects that were agreed upon at the Baghdad conference.

The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region expressed his gratitude and appreciation to King Abdullah for his supportive stances, especially in the war against terrorism.

Prince Mired, Bani Mustaf talk expedited implementation of disabilities accommodation alternatives strategy

Amman, Chairman of Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD), His Highness Prince Mired bin Ra’ad, on Tuesday, discussed with Minister of Social Development, Wafa’a Bani Mustafa, ways to enhance joint cooperation and developments in implementing provisions of national strategy to find alternatives to shelters for persons with disabilities.

Prince Mired called on competent authorities’ concerted efforts to create the “appropriate” environment to implement the strategy’s axes and strengthen independent accommodation for persons with disabilities, in a way that guarantees their independence and equality.

In addition, His Highness affirmed HCD’s readiness to provide all technical support required to accelerate implementation of the strategy’s provisions.

For her part, Bani Mustafa said the ministry is “keen” to strengthen partnership with HCD and partner agencies to follow up on the strategy’s implementation.

Expressing the ministry’s keenness to develop capabilities of technical staff working in shelters, Bani Mustafa said this effort aims to align with the strategy’s guidelines, in a bid to integrate beneficiaries into society by benefiting from future programs launched for this purpose, in direct coordination with HCD.

Jordan welcomes Sudan new political agreement

Amman, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the launch of the second and final phase of consultations on the implementation of the political framework agreement in Sudan.

It reaffirmed the Kingdom’s full support for the agreement, and lauded the international and regional efforts that contributed to its facilitation.

The ministry expressed its hope for finalizing this process to reach an agreement that establishes a new phase that meets the ambitions and aspirations of the Sudanese people, and contributes to strengthening security and political and economic stability in the country.

Relations with Jordan ‘solid, deep-rooted:’ Iraqi president

Baghdad, Iraqi President, Abdul Latif Rashid, said Iraqi-Jordanian relations are “solid and deep-rooted,” constitute a source of pride and serve common interests.

Meeting Lower House Speaker Ahmed Safadi, and his accompanying delegation, on Wednesday, Rashid stressed need to maintain joint work and coordination and harness relations to bolster the region’s stability and peace, especially against terrorism and extremism.

Rashid also affirmed Iraq’s readiness to provide assistance needed by Jordanian people, lauding Jordan’s position to support Iraqis.

He stressed the importance of joint cooperation in various political, economic, education and health fields, in a way that achieves mutual interests.

For his part, Safadi stressed Jordan’s keenness to support Iraq in confronting terrorism, and strengthening economic, political and security cooperation relations.

Libyan delegation checks on programs of National Aid Fund

Amman, A Libyan delegation headed by the Libyan Minister of Social Affairs, Wafaa Abu Baker Al-Kilani, was briefed on the social protection programs overseen by the National Aid Fund, and mechanisms for providing support and assistance to poor and needy families.

Khitam Shneikat, Director General of the National Aid Fund, said that the delegation’s visit indicates confidence in this institution, which has become the center of attention and appreciation of international and regional bodies working in the field of combating poverty and alleviating pressures on needy families, who have never hesitated to provide moral and material support to the fund.

Shneikat highlighted programs overseen by the fund, the objectives of each program, and the target groups.

JAF sends team to Jerusalem to investigate remains believed to belong to Jordanian soldiers

Amman, The Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) – Arab Army said Wednesday that it is, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, following on news that have been circulated on discovering the remains of 15 people believed to belong to Jordanian soldiers in Jerusalem.

The soldiers were reportedly martyred in the town of “Hanina al-Tehta” northern Jerusalem during the June 1967 war, according to senior JAF source.

The source said a military task force on Wednesday was sent, in coordination with concerned authorities, to conduct the necessary investigations to examine the remains.

The source added that it is too early to unveil the remains identity due to technical and medical reasons that require more laboratory tests.

The results of any tests or efforts to identify these remains will be announced later, the source concluded.

We support Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic, Christian holy sites in Jerusalem: Iraqi top leader

Baghdad, Lower House Speaker Ahmed Safadi on Wednesday met with head of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, and head of the Supreme Judicial Council in Iraq, Faiq Zaidan.

During two separate meetings, in the presence of heads of the parliamentary blocs and Jordan Ambassador to Iraq, Montaser Al-Uqla, Safadi conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah to al-Hakim and Zaidan.

Safadi reaffirmed Jordan’s supportive position, led by His Majesty King Abdullah, for all efforts aimed at strengthening the security and stability of Iraq as a fundamental pillar of the region’s security and stability.

For his part, al-Hakim said that Jordan is paying the price for its firm stances towards the Palestinian cause, stressing its support to the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

“We have good relations with Jordan, and with His Majesty the King, who is a descendant of Banu Hashim. Today, we must work to strengthen cooperation between the two brotherly countries, with real actions on the ground, as we have opportunities for joint cooperation in many fields,” al-Hakim added.

In turn, Zidan voiced Iraqis’ appreciation for the Jordanian positions under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, which has been providing various forms of support to Iraq, stressing that Jordan has remained a safe haven for Iraqis in times of crisis.

APC, AMC sign MoU to launch future mining partnerships, projects…1st, final add

For his part, Shehhi stressed the MoU’s importance to strengthen joint work and cooperation relations by examining the possibility of establishing “feasible” projects that would benefit the two companies and their shareholders.

He pointed to the high and long-term added value achieved by Arab Mining Company (AMC) as a result of its investment in about 20% of the APC’s capital, indicating that AMC is looking for more opportunities to increase its investments in Jordan, which is characterized by its “safe and attractive” investor environment.

Meanwhile, APC CEO, Maen Nsour, touched on the “positive and historic” outcomes achieved by APC over the past few years despite the financial, economic, health and geopolitical crises that the world witnessed.

He also referred to the key and capital projects that APC is implementing to ensure continuity of its productive operations, primarily projects to expand production of potash of all kinds and colors, high added value fertilizer industries projects, in addition to enterprises to maintain production according to the highest factory-based levels and ventures to reduce operational production costs.

Arab Potash Company seeks to double the production quantities by carrying out expansion projects to meet the expected growth in global consumption of this strategic substance, he said.

The company, he noted, is also studying feasibility of producing green or traditional ammonia to increase capability of Jordan’s mining sector to find new opportunities and industries in this field.

House speaker, Iraqi counterpart talk joint cooperation, projects

Baghdad, Lower House Speaker Ahmed Safadi on Wednesday held official talks with his Iraqi counterpart, Mohammad Halbousi.

During the meeting, Safadi stressed importance of building on the outcomes of the second session of Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership, which was held in Jordan about a month ago.

The event was held at invitation of His Majesty King Abdullah II, and attended by Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammad Sudani, as well as a number of presidents and representatives of the region’s countries, alongside French leader.

Safadi stressed the importance of providing all capabilities to support Iraq’s security and stability, back Baghdad’s efforts to consolidate state of law, strengthen its governance and build institutions to continue progress and reconstruction and meet Iraqi people’s aspirations.

Safadi added the two countries’ parliaments are concerned with overcoming legislative obstacles to support steps of tripartite cooperation between Jordan, Egypt and Iraq and economic projects that have been agreed upon, including electrical interconnection projects.

For his part, Halbousi affirmed “remarkable” appreciation for Jordan’s stances under the King’s leadership in supporting Iraq.

“Iraqis will not forget the King’s stances in supporting Iraq’s unity, security and stability and Jordan’s role in backing Iraq in the war against ISIS,” he added.

Halbousi stressed the importance of working at the parliamentarians’ level to orchestrate visions and activate agreements signed by the two countries, and continue cooperation at level of the Arab, Asian and Islamic parliaments and International Parliamentary Union to adopt common issues.

He also referred to Palestinian cause as a priority and noted supportive position of Iraq and Jordan in this regard.

Halbousi said Iraq’s parliament supports outcomes of the tripartite summit and bilateral agreements inked by the two countries in the security, industrial and commercial sectors and the energy file.

In addition, he highlighted importance of completing the electrical interconnection project and extending the oil pipeline to the port of Aqaba to increase national revenues and multiply export outlets.

House speaker affirms Jordan’s continued support for Iraq to counter terrorism

Baghdad, Lower House Speaker, Ahmad Safadi, said Jordan, under His Majesty King Abdullah II’s leadership, will maintain support to Iraq to eliminate terrorism.

Addressing Iraqi Parliament’s on Wednesday, Safadi noted Jordan stresses importance of building tripartite cooperation between Jordan, Egypt and Iraq and the economic projects agreed upon by the three countries, including electrical interconnection projects.

“As in the summits’ outcomes, It is important to push economic integration to strengthen brotherhood and friendship among the region’s peoples and establish a spirit of tolerance,” he added.

Safadi stressed the necessity of turning brotherly Jordanian-Iraqi relations into “practical” steps that would serve and benefit the two countries’ peoples.

He said Iraq will achieve progress and remain supporter of the Arab nation, which reflects its history and civilization.
