Israeli warplanes strike residential building in Gaza; kill two civilians

Two Palestinian civilians were killed, and five others were injured after Israeli warplanes bombed a residential building in the al-Naser neighbourhood in Gaza Friday afternoon. According to the Health Ministry, the number of Palestinians killed and wounded in the ongoing Israeli campaign in Gaza rose to 33 and 110, respectively. Palestinian sources reported that a fire broke out in the targeted apartment and other apartments.

Safadi meets German MPs on ties, partnership

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi Friday met with German legislatures at the Bundestag in Berlin and met with MPs of the Social Democratic Party on the Jordan-Germany “strategic” partnership. During the meetings, Safadi reviewed the partnership between Jordan and Germany and discussed the joint keenness to develop it, praising the “historical” relations between the two countries. The two countries marked the 70th anniversary of establishing ties. The meetings discussed international and regional issues, the developments on the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian Territories and the Syrian crisis and the refugee crisis in Jordan. He lauded Germany’s support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). They discussed stronger cooperation in education, training, research and health. Safadi discussed the agreement signed between Jordan and Germany in 2021 on providing job opportunities for Jordanians in Germany in health, nursing and engineering.

Kuwait deplores Tunisia’s Djerba terrorist attack

The Foreign Ministry expressed Friday Kuwait’s condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist attack that occurred in Tunisia’s Island of Djerba killing and wounding several people.

The Ministry renewed Kuwait’s firm stance which rejects violence and terrorism in its various forms and manifestations, calling for the necessity of doubling international efforts to eradicate this dangerous phenomenon.

Kuwait acclaims Sudan declaration for protecting civilians

The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry on Friday applauded the Jeddah declaration on sparing civilians in Sudan and facilitating delivery of relief supplies to those in need in the afflicted nation.

The ministry in a statement acclaimed the Saudi-US declaration with respect of the signing by representatives of the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces of the commitment to protect civilians and facilitate humanitarian works to meet the emergency need of the civilians, ensuring delivery of humanitarian aid in addition to steps to be taken later.

It appreciates that the efforts by Saudi Arabia and the US to urge the Sudanese parties sit at the negotiating table and sign this important obligation aimed at safeguarding the civilians.

Macron: Two Frenchmen held in Iran freed

French President Emmanuel Macron declared on Friday that Iran freed two French nationals and pledged to release others languishing behind iron bars in Iran.

The president in a tweet declared that Tehran freed Bernard Phelan and Benjamin Briere, vowed to seek freedom of other detained French citizens and thanked all parties that helped in freeing the pair.

French Foreign Minister Cathrine Colona affirmed in a statement that the two freed Frenchmen were en route back home after undergoing some medical treatment following their release from Mashhad prison in Iran.

Iran had held Briere for three years for taking photos around “prohibited zones” and expressing his opposition to women’s veil wearing on the social media. Phelan was arrested in October 2022 on charges of undermining the national security,

Oil Minister: Iraq Loses 500,000 Barrels Per Day As A Result Of Stopping Exports Through Ceyhan, Turkey

Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, Oil Minister Hayan Abdul-Ghani affirmed Iraq’s commitment to the voluntary reduction decision, noting that Iraq is losing 500 thousand barrels per day as a result of stopping exports through Turkish Ceyhan.

Abdul-Ghani said in a statement, “The decisions and agreements issued by (OPEC +) meetings are only made after a careful review of developments in the global oil markets, and the members of the producing countries do not hesitate to take decisions that ensure achieving the required balance between supply and demand, and the stability of the oil markets.”

Regarding his expectations regarding the steps that (OPEC +) can take at its next meeting, Abdul-Ghani said, “(OPEC +) has adopted a policy of realistic dealing and courageous stances with the oil market variables as required by circumstances, and that the collective agreement and commitment of the producing countries in OPEC and its allies’ agreements have contributed to facing the challenges and harsh conditions that faced the crude oil market and the global economy during the past period.
