HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad congratulates the Royal Endurance Team

Madrid, The Royal Endurance Team today won the 120-kilometre race (general and junior categories” as part of the Spanish International Championship.

First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, General Sports Authority Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa congratulated the team on their performance.

“This victory builds on the achievements of the Royal Team in international and European forums”, he said, commanding the role of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Royal Endurance Team captain.

HH Shaikh Khalid said that the achievements reflect the level attained by the sport of endurance, that victory in Spain builds on achievement of HH Shaikh Nasser who ranked first in the World Endurance Championship in Abu Dhabi.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad congratulated Royal team riders Salman isa, Manal Fakhrawi and Ahmed Al Dhawadi who won the top three spots, in addition to Abdulla Al Ruwaei, champion of junior category.

HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad participated in the 160-km contest but his horse failed to pass the veterinary examination after the first stage of the race. He followed up the other team riders who motivated them to achieve positive results in both races.

Salman Isa finished first, clocking 6 hours, 7 minutes and 41seconds, followed by Manal Fakhrawi (6 hours, 7 minutes and 42 seconds) and Ahmed Althawadi (6 hours, 7 minutes and 46 seconds).

Abdulla Al Ruwaei outclassed other riders to rank first in the junior category, clocking (6 hours, 59 minutes and 14 seconds). The Royal Team champions were honoured at the end of the champoionship.

The Royal Team members hailed the support of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa which motivated them to achieve positive results in the Spanish International Endurance Championship.

They also hailed HH Shaikh Khalid’s directives during the different phases of the races which enabled them to achieve an honourable performance.

DUBAI ONCE AGAIN RANKS FIRST WORLDWIDE IN ATTRACTING FOREIGN INVESTMENT

Crown Prince of the Emirate of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, announced today that the Emirate leads the world rankings in terms of foreign direct investments in new companies, for the year 2022, according to “Russia Today” news agency.

Iraq Allows Trucks Of Lebanese Agricultural Products To Pass Through Its Territory Towards Kuwait

Lebanon announced that Iraq has allowed the passage of trucks of Lebanese agricultural products through its territory towards the State of Kuwait.

The Lebanese Minister of Agriculture, Abbas Hajj Hassan, said: “We thank the ministers of agriculture and transportation in Iraq, the customs administration, the General Authority for Border Crossings, and the departments of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior for facilitating the passage of Lebanese trucks through Iraqi territory towards the State of Kuwait.”

Hajj Hassan expressed his hope that “inter-Arab relations will return to their previous state, in a way that serves the interests of all Arab countries, and we are days away from the Arab summit, which we hope will be a summit of the Arabs’ return to the Arabs.”

Iraq Exported Nearly 250,000 Barrels Of Oil Per Day To America During The Past Week

The US Energy Information Administration announced today, Sunday, that Iraq’s oil exports to America rose to an average of 247 thousand barrels per day during the past week.

It said in a report that “Iraq’s oil exports to America amounted to an average of 247,000 barrels per day last week, up by 99,000 barrels as a daily rate from the previous week, in which oil exports to US reached an average of 148,000 barrels per day.”

It indicated that “most of US’s oil imports during the past week came from Canada, followed by Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and then Ecuador, while it did not import any amount from Russia.”

The Voting Process In The Turkish Presidential And Parliamentary Elections Starts

The voting process began at 8:00 am today, Sunday, in the 28th session of the presidential and parliamentary elections throughout Turkey, and voting continues until 5:00 pm, local time.

The Turkish President is competing for the presidency, the candidate of the People’s Alliance, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who aspires to win a second and final term after the country’s transition to the presidential system, the candidate of the People’s Alliance and the leader of the Republican People’s Party, Kamal Kiliçdaroglu, and the candidate of the Grandfathers’ Alliance, Sinan Ogan, while the candidate of the Country Party, Muharram Ince, withdrew last Friday. 24 political parties competed for parliamentary seats.

Bahrain-Saudi Coordination Committee holds meeting

The second meeting of the Coordination Committee in the fields of investment, environment and infrastructure between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was held today.

The meeting was cochared by the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Mohammed bin Thamer Al-Kaabi and the Saudi Minister of Investment Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Faleh.

The two sides stressed core pillars and common fundamentals that unite the Kingdom of Bahrain and the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, reiterating the commitment of the leadership of both countries to further strengthen bilateral relations.

Al Kaabi affirmed long standing relations binding the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi ArabiaHe highlighted both countries’ commitment to strengthen joint cooperation frameworks in the fields of joint investment, the environment and infrastructure.

He lauded the care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to bilateral relations binding the two countries.

He noted the key role played by the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and HRH Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed key developments related to the initiatives that fall within the work of the Coordination Committee in the fields of investment, environment and infrastructure.

They highlighted the efforts which are made by the joint task forces which were formed to achieve more integration between the two brotherly countries.

DEWA helps reduce 218,373 tonnes of carbon emissions

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA),has succeeded in reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 218,373 tonnes, since the launch of the service three years ago until December 2022.

DEWA detected 1,327,583 leakages in water connections after the meter, and 26,657 defects, and 13,172 cases of increased load. The service sends instant notifications to customers if the smart meter system detects any unusual increase in consumption so that they can quickly repair the internal connections, or any leaks in the water connections with the help of a specialised technician, and perform the necessary maintenance work to reduce waste.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, highlighted that DEWA encourages customers to enhance the efficiency of electricity and water through the smart grid and smart meters, which use the latest disruptive technologies. This helps customers to monitor, manage and control their consumption in a proactive and digital manner anytime and anywhere without contacting DEWA, according to Emirates News Agency (WAM).

These also enable them to make sustainable decisions that contribute to preserving the environment and natural resources. Dubai’s population benefit from 2.1 million smart electricity and water meters. This is part of DEWA’s efforts to develop smart and advanced infrastructure in accordance with the highest international standards. This supports the transformation of Dubai into the smartest and happiest city in the world. The number of smart meters has increased from 200,000 in the first phase which was completed in January 2016 to 2.1 million meters currently.

DEWA highlighted the efficiency of its systems in detecting any flaws in the external connections after the meter and noted that its responsibility is limited to connections and maintenance until the meter only, while the internal connections after the meters are the customer/owner’s responsibility. This applies to residential, commercial, and industrial sectors.

High-level business delegation concludes visit to South Korea

Sustainable Development Minister Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif stressed strong relations and strategic partnership binding the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of South Korea.

They discussed the importance of sustainable tourism as one of the most important economic pillars, in addition to discussing the impact of the Corona pandemic (Covid-19) on sustainability in the tourism sector.

During the meeting, Al-Khulaif touched on the successful experiences of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of sustainable tourism.

The minister also reviewed the tourism strategy for the Kingdom of Bahrain 2022-2026 as part of the economic recovery plan.
