20th Parliament to Convene First Extraordinary Session on Sunday

Amman: The 20th Parliament is set to hold its first Extraordinary Session this Sunday, marking the initial assembly since its election. This session comes following the issuance of a Royal Decree on June 28, 2026, which called for the Parliament to gather in an extraordinary capacity starting July 12, 2026. According to Jordan News Agency, the Royal Decree outlined six draft laws to be considered during this session. These include the Draft Local Administration Law of 2026, the Draft Amended Jordanian Universities Law of 2026, the Draft Amended Real Estate Ownership Law of 2026, the Draft Law to Repeal the Civil Consumer Corporation Law of 2026, the Draft Professional Work Regulation Law of 2026, and the Draft Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission Law of 2026. As the session begins, the Lower House of Representatives will take the initial steps of debating these bills. This process will follow constitutional procedures in preparation for their approval and subsequent referral to complete the legisl ative process.
