Four Syrian soldiers were killed and one wounded on Saturday in Israeli air strikes on central and coastal areas of Syria, according to a Syrian military source.
The Syrian news agency SANA quoted a military source as saying that the Israeli army carried out an “air aggression” at 6.30 am local time over the Mediterranean in the direction of the coastal town of Banias, targeting “some points” in the central and coastal regions.
It said Syrian anti-aircraft defenses intercepted the Israeli missiles, confirming that the attack left four soldiers dead and one was injured and caused material damage.
The strike was the latest in a series that Israel said targeted Iranian and Hizbollah presence in Syria.
