Aleppo: A Syrian soldier and four civilians, including a child, lost their lives, and several others were injured in attacks by the SDF terror group in Aleppo, according to media reports. The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) stated that a drone attack targeted army deployment sites near the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, resulting in the death of one soldier and injuries to others.
According to Anadolu Agency - English, SANA reported that the four civilians, including two women and a child, were killed due to SDF shelling of residential buildings in the Al-Midan neighborhood. Citing local officials, the agency mentioned that 16 people were injured, including children and nine civil servants, in the attacks. The outlet also noted that residents were displaced from Nile Street toward safer areas following the bombardment of residential buildings.
SDF terrorists targeted Zahi Azrak Hospital and Al-Kalima School in Aleppo, although no information about casualties has been released. The Syrian army evacuated staff from another hospital after it came under fire, transporting medical personnel to Al-Razi Hospital for safety. Moreover, SDF terrorists attacked the Tattan fuel station with a suicide drone.
Syrian authorities have announced the suspension of classes and work at government institutions due to ongoing shelling by the SDF. Aleppo Governor Azam al-Gharib confirmed that the suspension applies to all educational and governmental institutions. He urged citizens to exercise caution and avoid areas of conflict.
The Syrian Defense Ministry stated it had conducted retaliatory strikes against the PKK/YPG terror organization. It accused the SDF of escalating attacks and violating the March 10 Agreement. The ministry emphasized that the army targeted SDF sources of fire in response to the attacks.
Ahmad Muaffaq Zaidan, media affairs adviser to the Syrian presidency, condemned the SDF attacks and highlighted the unity of Syria. He criticized the SDF for violating agreements and targeting civilians. The Syrian Defense Ministry accused the SDF of attempting to provoke open warfare by violating the agreement.
An official at Aleppo's Media Directorate told SANA that the SDF targeted civilian areas, leading to displacement. The attacks followed a similar SDF drone strike in the Aleppo countryside on Monday. Meetings in Damascus with SDF representatives, including its commander Mazloum Abdi, have so far produced no tangible results, with officials accusing the SDF of delaying agreement implementation.
The SDF, dominated by the YPG, is accused by Syrian officials of not fulfilling the terms of an agreement signed in March 2025, aimed at integrating the SDF into state institutions and reaffirming Syria's territorial unity.
