7th Jordanian Environmental Conference Unveiled in Amman

Amman: The 7th Jordanian Environmental Conference was inaugurated by Minister of Environment, Dr. Ayman Suleiman, on Sunday. The event, organized by the Jordan Geologists Association (JGA) in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, is focusing on the theme "Environmental Implications of Economic and Social Development and Remediation Projects - Environmental Balances."

According to Jordan News Agency, Dr. Suleiman, representing the Prime Minister, emphasized the conference's role as a crucial national platform for dialogue and the exchange of expertise on key environmental issues. He highlighted the urgent challenges the world faces due to climate change and resource scarcity, underlining the necessity of integrating environmental considerations into economic and social planning for sustainable development.

Dr. Suleiman further explained that Jordan, guided by His Majesty King Abdullah II's directives, is actively adopting environmental policies that are in line with international standards. These policies aim to support a transition to a green economy, improve resource efficiency, and minimize pollution, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for Jordanian citizens.

The Ministry of Environment is at the forefront of national efforts to protect natural resources, combat land degradation and desertification, preserve biodiversity, and develop robust environmental legislation and policies. The ministry is also focused on strengthening partnerships with official bodies, private entities, and civil society organizations.

The conference, spanning two days, will address a range of critical topics, including pollution in air, maritime, and soil, climate change, land degradation, water management, nature reserves, biodiversity, environmental legislation and policies, and the role of digital transformation and innovation in environmental protection.
