Hadid Showcases JNRCS’s Local, Regional Humanitarian Role

Amman: President of the Jordan National Red Crescent Society (JNRCS), Dr. Mohammad Hadid, emphasized the society's longstanding commitment to being a voice for victims and the voiceless, grounded in humanity, neutrality, and independence. This perspective was shared during a ceremony for embassy representatives in the Kingdom, marking 60 years since the Declaration of the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

According to Jordan News Agency, Hadid underlined that humanitarian principles are fundamental to their efforts, focusing on protecting dignity, security, and safety. He described humanitarian diplomacy as not only a professional field but also a moral duty that values every human life, irrespective of nationality, religion, gender, or political views. This approach, he mentioned, involves a commitment to engage courageously, negotiate with integrity, and act with compassion, embodying shared humanity.

Looking ahead, Hadid emphasized the need to redefine humanitarian diplomacy in the current century to ensure protection and dignity for all. He advocated for amplifying community voices, forging alliances beyond traditional boundaries, and steadfastly defending humanitarian principles.

Yann Fridez, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Jordan, also highlighted the importance of adhering to the movement's principles and spreading the tenets of international humanitarian law. He pointed out the ICRC's crucial role in alleviating the suffering of those affected by the growing challenges in humanitarian work.

As the event concluded, Hadid showcased JNRCS's key contributions in crisis mitigation, including their response to the COVID-19 pandemic, support for the Gaza Strip via Jordanian border crossings, and continuous aid to refugees of various nationalities both within and outside Jordan's camps.
