Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities (AAU) Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, called on Arab universities to contribute to finding channels to develop Arab educational programs in the digital technology field.

Speaking at “Raising Awareness of Entrepreneurs, Consumers and Markets in the Digital World” conference, which was held in Amman, Salama said the language barrier prevents “effective” transfer of digital culture to Arab societies.

According to an AAU statement released on Wednesday, Salama stressed the importance of raising awareness and societal culture towards tech innovations and their integration.

Salma also highlighted the importance of raising awareness of tech innovations as a teaching method in Arab universities, which would enable these higher institutions become an “active” contributor to integrating and benefiting from digital technology.

The conference’s pillars push the Arab stakeholders to move towards a new horizon in outreaching to markets and customers and transferring modern technologies, which would welcome related changes and assess technology integration and its impact on society, he pointed out.

During the conference, the participants discussed possibility of building expert channels to raise awareness for the target groups and build integrated know-how on tech developments and successive innovations, which would help integrate digital tech and kick off proper implementation in Arab societies, the statement noted.
