Amman: The Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission participated in a workshop titled "Reimagining Learning - Employing Artificial Intelligence in Curricula, Assessment, and Student Engagement." The event took place at the InterContinental Hotel in Amman and was hosted by the British Council. It brought together academics, experts, and representatives from Jordanian universities to discuss the impact of AI on education.
According to Jordan News Agency, Commission President Dhafer Al-Sarayrah highlighted the significant influence of artificial intelligence in reshaping higher education. He emphasized the need for universities to incorporate AI tools into curricula and equip students and academics with necessary skills. The Commission has already updated most academic program standards to include AI and cybersecurity competencies and is encouraging students to pursue micro-credentials to enhance their employability.
Al-Sarayrah noted that 80 percent of program reviews have been completed, with full AI integration across all university programs anticipated by the end of October. This is part of a four-year implementation plan aligned with smart performance indicators.
Alexander Lambert, Director of the British Council in Jordan, emphasized that the workshop's focus extended beyond technology. He discussed the importance of rethinking curriculum design, learning assessment, and student participation, highlighting the ethical and inclusive application of AI to enrich student learning.
Ali Al-Daradkeh, Head of the E-Learning Division at the Commission, pointed out the connection between AI and digital education. He mentioned that AI applications have been introduced into most academic specializations, thereby enhancing learning environments and improving educational outcomes.
The workshop featured keynote speeches, interactive sessions, and training activities centered around curriculum design and assessment development using AI. Discussions also covered the ethical and pedagogical aspects of this rapidly evolving technology. The event underscores the British Council's dedication to fostering innovation in higher education, strengthening Jordanian-British cooperation, and developing future-ready learning environments.
