Ajloun Cable Car Attracts 430,000 Visitors in 2025, Boosting Local Tourism

Ajloun: The Ajloun Development Zone's cable car project has become a significant catalyst for tourism in the governorate, enhancing visitor experience and reinforcing Ajloun's position as a national tourist destination, as stated by the zone's director, Tareq Maaytah.

According to Jordan News Agency, Maaytah highlighted that the cable car has drawn over 430,000 visitors since the start of 2025, indicating a surge in demand and the effectiveness of its operations. The operations adhere to stringent safety and maintenance standards.

The cable car undergoes maintenance four to five times a year, focusing on main cables, stations, transport units, safety systems, and cabins. The system is only operational once all components are certified as ready, ensuring a safe experience for visitors.

Maaytah also mentioned that the Ajloun Development Zone is diversifying its tourism offerings with seasonal festivals such as the Spring and Summer Ajloun Festivals, the Olive Festival, and Tree Day events. These initiatives support local products, handicrafts, and community-based businesses, while also boosting the local economy.

The area provides integrated service and leisure facilities like restaurants, cafes, bazaars, and recreational activities, enhancing visitor stays and the overall tourist experience. Development plans are in place to further improve operational infrastructure and tourist services in alignment with sustainable development goals.

Progress is underway on the Ajloun National Park project, currently in its first phase, which includes infrastructure, administrative buildings, and site preparation, with expected completion by mid-June 2026.
