Amman: Spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Omar Maharrameh, announced that the ministry's directorates nationwide have responded to 154 reports within the past 24 hours. Maharrameh stated that the majority of these incidents involved rising water levels and landslides of soil and rocks on roads, a consequence of the prevailing weather conditions.
According to Jordan News Agency, Maharrameh emphasized that field teams addressed the reports "promptly," confirming that all roads under the ministry's jurisdiction are currently ready to accommodate traffic flow. The exception is the Wadi Araba highway, which remains closed due to landslides in the Ghor Numeira area. Traffic has been temporarily diverted from the Ma'moura-Tafila road to the Desert Highway until the necessary technical procedures are completed.
Maharrameh further explained that a technical team from the ministry will soon conduct a comprehensive assessment of the affected road to determine the necessary repairs and work towards reopening it as "quickly as possible." Field teams have been actively deployed at the impacted sites since Friday evening and continue to work diligently to address issues and ensure smooth traffic flow on both main and rural roads.
