AmCham-Jordan Hosts Discussion on Enhancing US-Jordan Economic Ties

Amman:The American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham-Jordan) recently organized a panel discussion titled "Strengthening the Jordanian-American Economic Partnership." This event coincided with a visit from a trade delegation from the US Chamber of Commerce.

According to Jordan News Agency, the gathering included leaders from both the public and private sectors, investors, and economic officials, who convened to explore avenues for trade and investment. The discussions focused on leveraging the US-Jordan Free Trade Agreement and the newly signed Reciprocal Trade Agreement to enhance economic cooperation.

AmCham-Jordan Chair Samer Judeh highlighted the chamber's dedication to turning the existing trade frameworks between Jordan and the US into significant commercial ventures. US Ambassador to Jordan Jim Holtsnider also spoke about the increasing opportunities for American businesses in Jordan, noting the country's stability and strategic location as a regional gateway.

Khush Choksy, Senior Vice President of International Member Relations at the US Chamber of Commerce, mentioned that the delegation visiting Amman and Aqaba is the largest US trade mission to Jordan, consisting of representatives from over 35 companies. He emphasized the investment potential in various sectors, including energy, water, technology, engineering, transport, finance, and healthcare.

The panel, moderated by AmCham-Jordan CEO Raghad Khojah, examined Jordan's business climate and its strategic role as a regional hub. Participants, including key figures from Citibank Jordan, Classic Fashion Apparel Industry, the US Chamber of Commerce for the Middle East, the International Finance Corporation, and Al Tamimi and Company, discussed strategies for joint projects in digital technology, infrastructure, agribusiness, and financial services. They focused on procurement procedures, market entry, and local partner identification to fully capitalize on bilateral trade agreements.
