Amman: The Amman Chamber of Commerce and the Jordanian-Emirati Business Women Council signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation and partnership between businesswomen in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
According to Jordan News Agency, the agreement was signed by Chamber President Khalil Haj Tawfiq and Council Chairperson Amal Hadabi. It focuses on collaboration in information exchange, investment opportunities, and joint projects. The memorandum outlines the exchange of reports, studies, and data, joint research preparation, delegation visits, and proposals to tackle challenges affecting bilateral trade. It also includes educational campaigns, training programs, exhibitions, and the promotion of innovation and creative skills through institutional partnerships.
Haj Tawfiq stated that the memorandum initiates a new phase in activating partnerships and launching initiatives to serve women in commercial and service sectors. He emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration for expertise exchange, investment opportunity expansion, and its reflection on the strong relations between Jordan and the UAE. He described this partnership as a strategic step towards women's economic empowerment and sustainable regional cooperation.
He also mentioned plans for sectoral meetings and business forums to connect business people from both countries, explore investment opportunities, and develop joint entrepreneurial projects supporting the Jordanian and Emirati economies.
Hadabi expressed pride in the strong ties between Jordan and the UAE, emphasizing the need for unified efforts to enhance Arab women's role in the economic sector. She noted that the memorandum provides a platform for expertise exchange, joint program participation, and skill development support for members.
She announced plans for a conference on "Artificial Intelligence, Women, and Entrepreneurship" to be held in Amman next April, marking the first of its kind in Jordan, with a subsequent edition planned in the UAE. Additionally, the Council intends to establish an honorary advisory board with prominent business figures and representatives from the public and private sectors to promote joint economic initiatives and women's empowerment in the Arab business environment.
Statistics from the Amman Chamber of Commerce reveal that 3,298 individual establishments are registered under women's ownership, with 10,806 women partners in various establishments and companies.
