Amman: The Directorate of Military Women's Affairs on Sunday celebrated the graduation of its first training course for childcare providers, held at Marka Hospitality and Tourism Institute, affiliated with the Vocational Training Corporation (VTC).
According to Jordan News Agency, the course brought together several female personnel of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF), who completed an intensive 275-hour training program. The event was attended by Brig. Gen. Khalil Da'ja, Assistant for Administration and Human Resources.
Implemented in collaboration with the National Council for Family Affairs and the Vocational Training Corporation, and supported by UN Women, the program is part of Jordan's National Action Plan for implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security. The initiative aims to enhance participants' skills and provide them with the technical knowledge required to work in the early childhood care sector.
The training sessions covered both theoretical and practical aspects, focusing on safe and inclusive childcare environments, effective interaction with children of different age groups, and strengthened coordination between childcare centers, families, and the local community. Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Da'ja stated that the program reflects JAF's commitment to empowering women, developing their professional skills, and enabling their active role in service and education fields, in line with national modernization efforts.
Mohammad Mogdadi, Secretary-General of the National Council for Family Affairs, highlighted the importance of specialized training in early childhood, noting its role in promoting women's participation across military and security institutions. VTC General Director Ahmed Gharaibeh mentioned that the initiative serves as a model for preparing qualified professionals in early childhood education, adding that the Corporation plans to expand it to other institutes to create more quality training and employment opportunities for Jordanian women.
Nicholas Burnett, UN Women Representative in Jordan, noted that the ceremony coincided with the 25th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and the first International Day of Care and Support. He emphasized caregiving as the "unseen engine" that sustains families, communities, and economies and commended the Jordanian Armed Forces and partner institutions for their leadership in advancing women's empowerment.
The event featured a video highlighting the program's stages and the participants' acquired skills. Certificates were presented to the graduates in the presence of senior officers from the Jordanian Armed Forces.
