Amman: Chairman of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) Committee, Yousef Shawarbeh, on Tuesday met with Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to Jordan Kim Pil-woo to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation and joint initiatives.
According to Jordan News Agency, Shawarbeh highlighted the strong Jordanian-Korean relations characterized by ongoing cooperation. He emphasized the municipality's dedication to strengthening bilateral ties and supporting collaborative efforts that align with shared interests.
Shawarbeh underscored the significance of partnership and expanded Amman-Seoul cooperation in fields such as transport, urban development, environmental sustainability, city resilience, and infrastructure development. These efforts aim to achieve sustainable development, improve service delivery, and elevate the quality of life for citizens.
Ambassador Pil-Woo acknowledged GAM's role in fostering partnerships and international collaboration with friendly cities. He lauded the progress Amman has made in municipal, urban, and cultural domains, as well as the municipality's strategic plans and projects geared towards upgrading infrastructure and enhancing services for the city and its inhabitants.
GAM and the Seoul Metropolitan Government have previously signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on joint cooperation and expertise transfer in smart traffic management and urban mobility. This MoU covers collaboration in smart city solutions, resilience and climate change mitigation, waste management, the recycling economy, sustainable water resource management, the development of green public spaces, and capacity building and training.
