Amman Venues to Host Public Screenings of Argentina Match

Amman: The Roman Theatre, Hashemite Plaza, and the Odeon Theater in downtown Amman will host live public screenings for fans to watch the Jordan national football team's clash with Argentina. This event is part of nationwide celebrations marking Jordan's historic first qualification for the FIFA World Cup.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Ministry of Youth, Greater Amman Municipality, Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Ministry of Government Communication, and the Jordan Tourism Board are jointly organizing these events across the three sites. The much-anticipated match is scheduled for 5 a.m. on Sunday, 28 June, with gates opening at 3 a.m., providing fans ample time to gather two hours before kickoff.

Organizers noted that previous screening events attracted significant public turnout, reflecting strong national pride and unity behind the national team. These events also highlight Jordan's sporting achievements on the global stage. They emphasized that hosting screenings at archaeological and tourist sites offers international visibility for Jordan's heritage, supporting efforts to promote tourism and showcase the country's cultural and historical assets.

In preparation for the event, security and logistical measures are in place, including designated entry and exit routes, crowd management teams, and strict adherence to venue capacity limits. Authorities have urged fans to arrive early, follow security instructions, avoid overcrowding, and help preserve the integrity of the heritage sites. Participants are encouraged to display national flags and traditional symbols in support of the team.

The Roman Theatre, a landmark dating back nearly two millennia, will serve as a symbolic setting for the public gathering, blending historical heritage with a national sporting milestone. Organizers stated that these events underscore the evolution of the team's World Cup qualification into a broader national occasion extending beyond sport.
