Amman: The Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC), in collaboration with the Hayat Centre - Rasid and Plan International, has initiated the Integrity Caravan as part of the second cycle of the National Integrity Index 2024-2025. The project is set to target 119 government agencies in an effort to enhance transparency and integrity within public institutions.
According to Jordan News Agency, during the launch ceremony, JIACC Vice Chairman Sami Salaita emphasized the importance of the current phase, which involves comprehensive three-way opinion polls. These polls are designed to objectively assess the level of integrity within institutions by gathering feedback from both employees and service recipients. Salaita noted that the results from this phase will contribute 40 percent to the final score for each targeted institution, providing a clear picture of strengths and areas needing improvement. This will guide institutions in enhancing their sectors, improving service delivery, and ensuring efficient public fund usage in alignment with national interests.
Amer Bani Amer, Director of the Hayat Centre - Rasid, elaborated on the partnerships between the Commission and civil society organizations in reinforcing the national integrity system. He described the National Integrity Index as a strategic instrument that boosts government service efficiency and aids in the development of public institutions in line with reform priorities and national goals. Bani Amer further highlighted that fostering transparency, accountability, and anti-corruption efforts is crucial for building trust between citizens and the state, which is essential for sustainable development and the principles of good governance.
Before the launch, the Commission implemented a training program to acquaint participants with the Integrity Caravan. This program was inaugurated by the Commission's Secretary-General, Amjad Narmouk. Young volunteers involved in the program will distribute questionnaires to the targeted government agencies, under the supervision of Commission staff for oversight and follow-up.
During the session, Muwaffaq Ziadat, the Commission's Strategic Planning Advisor, provided insights into the Commission's strategic directions and discussed the current cycle of the Index, along with reflections from the first cycle's opinion poll and caravan activities. The launch ceremony saw the attendance of notable figures such as Abeer Madanat, Executive Director of Transparency International Monitor - Jordan; Mahmoud Karaki, Programme Director at Plan International - Jordan; members of the Commission's Board; senior officials from various organizational units; and Commission liaison officers in public agencies.
