Aqaba Blue Beach Achieves Fourth Consecutive Blue Flag Accreditation

Amman: Blue Beach in the Aqaba Marine Reserve has been awarded the Blue Flag certificate for the fourth consecutive time, underscoring its adherence to international standards in water quality, environmental management, safety, services, and environmental awareness.

According to Jordan News Agency, the Blue Flag program stands as one of the foremost environmental accreditation initiatives globally. It is awarded to beaches and marinas that fulfill rigorous criteria supporting eco-tourism and sustainable coastal management. The prestigious accreditation was celebrated with a certificate handover and flag-raising ceremony, attended by Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Chief Commissioner Shadi Majali, the commissioner for environment and public safety, representatives from the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan, members of the National Blue Flag Committee, and various directors, officials, partner organizations, and environmental stakeholders.

The ASEZA, in a statement, noted that the renewed accreditation reflects its commitment to implementing best environmental practices, safeguarding beaches and the marine environment, and promoting integrated coastal zone management. This approach aligns with ASEZA's vision to preserve natural resources and biodiversity. The authority emphasized that this achievement positions Blue Beach as a leading national model and bolsters Aqaba's standing as a regional and international destination for marine and eco-tourism.
