Aqaba: The Chief Commissioner of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) met with the EU Ambassador to discuss bilateral cooperation and engage with entrepreneurs from southern Jordan. The Commissioner was joined by H.E. Dr. Thabet Alnabulsi, Commissioner for Youth and Tourism, and H.E. Dr. Mohammad Abu Omar, Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Investment. The discussions centered on fostering private sector growth and investment in the region.
According to European Union, the visit included a Meet and Greet session with local entrepreneurs who are part of the Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Development and Employment (E4DE) project. This initiative is implemented by GIZ and co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Entrepreneurs shared their experiences, challenges, and the benefits they have reaped from the E4DE project and ASEZA's support. They emphasized the positive impact of the Aqaba Entrepreneurial Network (AEN), a product of the E4DE project now led by ASEZA.
The E4DE project is executed by GIZ and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE), in collaboration with ASEZA. It receives co-financing from BMZ and the EU, aiming to bolster entrepreneurial activities and economic development in southern Jordan.
