Aqaba: The Jordanian Maltrans Group has announced a strategic partnership with the international shipping company CStar Line to launch a new shipping service that will connect Chinese maritime gateways with Red Sea ports, including the Port of Aqaba. This development aims to boost trade connectivity between the Far East and the Arab region.
According to Jordan News Agency, Maltrans Group CEO Nabil Khatib stated that the service is set to begin with two trips per month, utilizing a fleet of four ships each with a capacity ranging from 1,600 to 2,000 TEUs. The port rotation for this service will include Ningbo, Shanghai, Guangzhou (Nansha Port), Jeddah, Aqaba, and Sokhna.
Khatib highlighted that this cooperation presents an opportunity to strengthen Aqaba's position as a regional hub for logistics and maritime shipping services, providing direct connections to key Asian markets. He emphasized that the service aims to address increasing regional demand and fill existing gaps in underserved shipping lanes.
The direct link with Chinese ports, Khatib noted, marks a development in the movement of goods to and from the region. Additionally, Maltrans Group being designated as the exclusive agent for CStar Line in Aqaba is seen as a significant step in reinforcing Jordan's position as a regional logistics hub.
Khatib stressed the importance of smart partnerships between local expertise and international lines in creating a more interconnected and efficient future in the maritime transport sector.
