Amman: The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) convened its second consultative session on Tuesday, focusing on a project by Al-Etihad Fuel Storage and Management Company. The initiative involves constructing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage tanks in the Southern Industrial Zone as part of environmental approval requirements.
According to Jordan News Agency, Eman Kouz, ASEZA's Head of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), emphasized that the project is designed to expand the Kingdom's LPG storage capacity. This expansion is seen as a crucial step toward enhancing energy security and supporting the development of the country's fuel infrastructure.
Kouz further highlighted the significance of stakeholder and community participation in the environmental assessment processes. She pointed out that such engagement is essential to defining mitigation measures, ensuring sustainable development, and reinforcing environmental protection and occupational safety standards.
Al-Rawabi Environmental and Energy Consultancies shared their findings from the EIA during the session. They presented environmental management plans, risk evaluation results, and proposed mitigation measures, all of which align with international best practices.
