New york: The Arab Islamic Ministerial Committee on Gaza has expressed its deep regret over the U.S. Department of State's decision to deny entry visas to the Palestinian delegation set to participate in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this September.
According to Jordan News Agency, the Committee has urged the U.S. Administration to reconsider and reverse its decision, highlighting the significance of adhering to obligations under the United Nations Headquarters Agreement. The Committee stressed the importance of fostering dialogue and diplomacy, while acknowledging the positive stance of the Palestinian National Authority and its unwavering commitment to peace as a strategic choice.
The Committee further underscored the necessity of supporting the Palestinian National Authority and President Mahmoud Abbas in advancing government reform efforts. It praised Abbas's reaffirmed commitments to global leaders, which aim to back peace initiatives and combat violence, extremism, and terrorism amidst the current challenging circumstances marked by unprecedented escalation against the Palestinian people.
Moreover, the Committee cautioned that any weakening of the Palestinian Authority could jeopardize peace efforts, potentially exacerbating violence and prolonging the conflict in the region.
