Amman: The foreign ministers of the Arab Ministerial Committee have underscored the necessity of confronting Israeli policies and actions aimed at altering the Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity of occupied Jerusalem. During a meeting held in Amman, the ministers expressed a unified stance against the dangers posed by Israeli policies in Jerusalem and the holy sites, reflecting a collective determination to address these issues.
According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the meeting also included participation from the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, and the foreign ministers of Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Malaysia. Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, emphasized in his speech that Israel is violating the sanctity of holy sites and restricting freedom of worship. He highlighted that Al-Aqsa Mosque is solely a place of worship for Muslims, urging the international community to decisively act against Israeli violations in Jerusalem.
Palestinian Foreign Minister Farsin Aghabekian Shahin expressed concern over the Israeli targeting of Jerusalem amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the increasing settlement policies in the West Bank. Shaheen called for a collective rescue plan to protect Jerusalem's identity and strengthen Palestinian resilience. She also highlighted the absence of accountability for Israel's longstanding policies of annexation and settlement expansion, which continue to reshape Jerusalem.
The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Nabil Fahmy, warned of escalating threats to Jerusalem's historical and demographic status. He called for a comprehensive campaign to expose Israeli plans and urged the international community to recognize the dangers of transforming the Palestinian-Israeli conflict into a religious one.
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan condemned Israeli violations in Gaza and stressed the need for the international community to take action to stop settler terrorism. Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar emphasized halting settlement expansion, while Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf highlighted the importance of supporting Palestinian institutions in Jerusalem.
Tunisian Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti reiterated the significance of preserving Jerusalem's identity and protecting its holy sites. Nafti emphasized the collective commitment to uphold the rights of the Palestinian people and called for international efforts to ensure protection and accountability.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty stated that the Palestinian issue is at a critical juncture, stressing the necessity of a just solution for regional stability. Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein condemned Israeli violations in Jerusalem and called for international action to respect UN resolutions and maintain Jerusalem's status.
The Arab Ministerial Committee's meeting concluded with calls for unified efforts to address Israeli policies in Jerusalem and support for Palestinian resilience and rights.
