Baghdad: The Arab Parliament issued a stark warning on Monday regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza, characterising it as an act of genocide against the Palestinian people amid international silence.

According to Jordan News Agency, in an address at the fourth plenary session of the Arab Parliament in Baghdad, Speaker Mohammed Yamahi emphasised that achieving security and stability in the Middle East hinges on finding a just and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue. He called for establishing an independent Palestinian state with occupied East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Yamahi remarked that the crises affecting various Arab countries are depleting resources and worsening regional challenges. He asserted the necessity of pursuing purely Arab solutions to the crises. He urged for decisive action to implement Arab economic integration projects to tackle the development and economic challenges facing the Arab world.

He emphasised that economic challenges facing the Arab world are just as critical as the security and political issues, particularly in the context of ongoing global trade wars, which have direct repercussions on Arab nations.
