Amman: The Arab Parliament on Saturday expressed approval of the findings presented by the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry, which confirmed that Israel has committed acts of genocide against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip. This development underscores a severe breach of international humanitarian law and pertinent UN conventions and resolutions.

According to Jordan News Agency, Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed Al-Yamahi stated that the report serves as a decisive condemnation of Israel's harsh policies and practices towards the Palestinian populace. The report highlights the severe human suffering endured by residents of the Gaza Strip, particularly affecting children, women, and the elderly, due to the ongoing blockade, starvation, and aggression.

Al-Yamahi emphasized that the international community now faces a critical test following the release of the report. He asserted that it is no longer sufficient to merely observe and document these crimes without taking decisive and binding actions. These actions should aim to enforce resolutions, implement the two-state solution, alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, ensure accountability for the occupation leaders as war criminals at the International Criminal Court, and put an end to the impunity that has allowed the continuation of such crimes.

He reiterated the Arab Parliament's call for urgent measures to protect the Palestinian people and support their legitimate right to self-determination. Al-Yamahi emphasized that establishing an independent, sovereign state is essential for achieving a just and lasting resolution to end the suffering of the Palestinian people and bring an end to the occupation.
