Arab Summit Reaffirms Support for Hashemite Custodianship Over Jerusalem’s Holy Sites

Baghdad: The 34th Arab Summit, convened in Baghdad, concluded with a strong affirmation of support for the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in occupied Jerusalem, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II. The summit's final statement highlighted the importance of this custodianship in preserving the religious and cultural identity of these sacred sites.

According to Jordan News Agency, the summit also expressed appreciation for Jordan's "Hope Restoration" initiative, aimed at supporting amputees in Gaza. The initiative was launched under royal directives and urges countries and organizations to engage in similar efforts to enhance Gaza's healthcare sector and improve relief efforts.

The centrality of the Palestinian cause was reaffirmed, with the summit emphasizing the non-negotiable rights of the Palestinian people. These include the right to freedom, self-determination, the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, and the right of return and compensation for refugees. The summit called for an immediate cessation of Israeli aggression on Gaza and urged the international community to assume moral and legal responsibilities to end the bloodshed and facilitate the entry of urgent humanitarian aid to affected areas in Gaza.
