Amman: Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Major General Yousef Huneiti, was in the field Monday overseeing a tactical exercise, "Security Fortress", conducted by the 60th Prince El Hassan bin Talal Armored Brigade. This unit, part of the Central Military Zone, carried out the drill at the designated training site.
According to Jordan News Agency, the army chief received briefings from the Assistant for Operations and Training, the Commander of the Central Military Region, and the Director of Military Operations. The briefings focused on the operational and logistical preparations for the drill, along with its objectives.
The exercise involved simulating operations across a range of scenarios, including a defensive battle followed by a counterattack utilizing light and medium weapons. It also featured the use of armored weapons and mortar fire, with support from Royal Jordanian Air Force aircraft, artillery, and blast engineering.
The primary aim of the exercise was to test the combat readiness of the participating units, assessing their capability to plan and execute tasks effectively. This is essential for making appropriate decisions under both conventional and unconventional operational circumstances.
Additionally, the exercise evaluated the units' ability to adapt to modern battlefield developments. This included the integration of information operations, countering cyber attacks, and the employment of drones.
Major General Huneiti, along with senior officers of the Jordan Armed Forces, interacted with the participants. He conveyed greetings and appreciation from His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and HRH Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II. The professionalism and morale of the troops were commended by the army chief.
