Amman: The Eastern Military Zone on Saturday morning thwarted an attempt to smuggle weapons and hand grenades carried by a drone coming from Syrian territory.
In a statement, an official military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF)- the Arab Army said border guard forces shot down a drone, which attempted to illegally cross Jordan’s border from Syrian territory inside the Kingdom’s lands.
After intensively searching and inspecting the area, one M4 rifle and 4 hand grenades were seized and transferred to the competent authorities.
JAF will continue to deal “firmly” with any threat on Jordan’s borders, and any endeavors intended to undermine and destabilize the Kingdom’s security and terrorize its citizens, the official noted.
