The Northern Military Zone on Saturday evening thwarted an attempt to infiltrate the Kingdom and smuggle in a quantity of ammunitions and weapons from Syria.
An official military source at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said the rules of engagement were applied in the incident, leading to the retreat of smugglers, who tried to infiltrate into the Kingdom, according to the JAF statement on Sunday.
After searching the area, a number of firearms and ammunitions were seized, and the confiscated items were transferred to the concerned authorities, the source added.
The army will apply “full force” to thwart any infiltration or smuggling attempts that seek to tamper with the Kingdom’s security, the source stressed.
