Amman: The Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) general index experienced a notable increase last week, closing at 4,124.7 points, up from 4,093.0 points the previous week, marking a rise of 0.77 percent.
According to Jordan News Agency, the financial, services, and industrial sector indices showed upward trends, with increases of 0.84 percent, 0.71 percent, and 0.66 percent, respectively. Over the week from September 13 to 17, daily turnover averaged around JD11 million, culminating in a total of approximately JD55 million. This period saw around 29 million shares being traded across 23,912 transactions.
The financial sector led the trading volume, contributing JD22.71 million, which accounts for 41.30 percent of the total trading volume. Following this, the services sector recorded a trading volume of JD16.64 million, representing 30.26 percent, while the industry sector reached JD15.64 million, making up 28.44 percent of the total.
A review of the weekly performance of 131 companies on the exchange revealed that 84 companies witnessed price increases, 27 experienced declines, and the remaining companies' prices remained unchanged.
