Riyadh: Lower House First Deputy Speaker Khamis Atiyeh said on Saturday Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, pursues its political and diplomatic role in defending the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people. Atiyeh, leading Jordan's parliamentary delegation to the World Public Assembly held in Moscow, reiterated Jordan's rejection of attempts to displace the Palestinians and alter the reality on the ground in the occupied Palestinian territories.
According to Jordan News Agency, Atiyeh emphasized the historic responsibility placed upon parliamentarians, media professionals, and intellectuals worldwide due to the ongoing challenges faced by the Palestinian people, including killing, destruction, displacement, and land confiscation. He addressed the assembly, which was attended by parliamentarians from across the globe, highlighting the urgent need for international cooperation in addressing these issues.
Atiyeh further stressed that Jordan remains steadfast in its commitment to defending the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem, along with its holy sites, under the Hashemite custodianship. The World Public Assembly provided a platform for Jordan to reaffirm its stance and call for collective action in support of Palestinian rights and sovereignty.
