Aqaba: Chief Commissioner of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Shadi Majali emphasized ASEZA's dedication to forging effective international partnerships that bolster sustainable development and enhance Aqaba's status as a regional investment and trade hub.
According to Jordan News Agency, Majali's remarks came during a meeting at the ASEZA headquarters with ambassadors from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries and the Australian ambassador, alongside ASEZA Commissioner for Economic Affairs and Investment Mohammad Abu Omar. The meeting focused on fostering economic and trade collaboration, highlighting ASEZA's development projects and investment successes across multiple sectors.
Majali stressed Aqaba's strategic advantages, including its position as Jordan's sole Red Sea port, extensive free trade agreements offering market access, and attractive investment incentives. He underscored opportunities for collaboration in logistics, port operations, and strategic projects such as the Aqaba railway, Marsa Zayed, the national water carrier, and green hydrogen initiatives. He also noted the robust bilateral relationships Jordan holds with Malaysia, Australia, Brunei, Indonesia, and Thailand.
The ambassadors acknowledged Aqaba's development progress and clear vision for sustainability, expressing interest in expanding cooperation with ASEZA and tapping into investment opportunities in emerging sectors. They highlighted the visit's goal of identifying prospects for ASEAN companies, strengthening economic ties with Jordan, and establishing new trade connections.
The ambassadors also praised Jordan's success in attracting investments, emphasizing Aqaba's competitive investment environment and its potential as a key destination for Asian businesses in the region.
