Amman: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Places, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Zakat Fund, Dr. Mohammed Khalayleh, has launched the "My Schoolbag" project aimed at providing school bags and stationery supplies to underprivileged students.
According to Jordan News Agency, the project, implemented by the Zakat Fund, will benefit approximately 20,000 students across the Kingdom. During the project's launch ceremony, which was attended by the Grand Mufti, Dr. Ahmad Hasanat, Khalayleh emphasized that the schoolbag initiative is part of the fund's broader program to assist impoverished families and orphans. He highlighted the initiative as both a religious and national duty.
Khalayleh assured that the Zakat Fund is dedicated to selecting high-quality schoolbags and supplies for the students, ensuring they receive the best items. The bags, which contain essential stationery items, were purchased from the Civil Service Consumer Corporation at preferential prices. These products underwent technical inspections to confirm their compliance with approved specifications and standards.
The Minister further stated that the fund continues to implement a wide range of programs aimed at supporting underprivileged families, which include building and renovating homes, providing care for the poor and orphans, distributing winter clothing and Eid gifts, and supporting students with necessary educational supplies.
He also noted that the fund is actively developing its programs and launching new projects to fulfill the purpose of its establishment. Khalayleh expressed gratitude for the donations and support received by the Zakat Fund, and acknowledged the solidarity of Jordan's citizens, which contributes to meeting the needs of families in difficult living conditions and enables students to pursue their education.
During the ceremony, Khalayleh personally distributed schoolbags to deserving students, while heads of the Awqaf directorates received allocations to be delivered to eligible pupils in their regions.
