The King emphasized that his visit to Maan aimed at exploring opportunities to enhance local infrastructure and services, directing the government to prioritize these developments. His Majesty also encouraged officials to continue field visits to better serve citizens and address their needs.
His recent visit to the United Kingdom was discussed during the meeting, with a focus on enhancing investment in Jordan. The King highlighted the importance of strengthening the national economy and building global economic partnerships. Plans for upcoming visits to key countries were outlined, aiming to establish new market access for Jordanian exports and attract high-value investments.
Prime Minister Jafar Hassan spoke at the outreach meeting, announcing the government's progress with the Aqaba-Maan Dry Port. This project is envisioned as a logistics and industrial hub linked to the Aqaba-Shidiyeh railway, receiving government support to ensure private sector viability. The prime minister emphasized the need for a unified development framework integrating Aqaba Port and the Maan Dry Port.
The government is addressing investment challenges in the Maan Development Zone by reducing land prices and electricity costs. New initiatives to revive Petra's tourism sector were highlighted, including hosting events to drive tourism and bolster the local economy.
A comprehensive school transportation project connecting Maan and southern governorates is set to commence at the start of the next academic year, with plans for future expansion. Five new schools have been completed in Maan, with six more expected next year. Regarding healthcare, work on the Maan Military Hospital's main building has concluded, with the Royal Medical Services supplying equipment for its expected operational launch next year. Additionally, the blood bank and outpatient clinic at Maan Public Hospital are complete, and construction on a diabetes and endocrinology centre is underway.
Royal Hashemite Court Chief Yousef Issawi discussed the implementation of key Royal initiatives in Maan, focusing on education, health, social development, and other sectors. Meeting attendees highlighted the governorate's most urgent needs, urging upgrades in various sectors and support for military retirees and women's empowerment. They expressed appreciation for the King's continued support.
Prior to the meeting, King Abdullah II visited Al Qantara Centre for Human Resources Development, receiving a briefing on its programmes and services, which have benefited around 51,000 people. The King toured the centre's facilities, engaging with youth benefitting from its programmes to advance their local communities. Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh and Adviser to His Majesty for Tribal Affairs Kneiaan Bluwi attended the meeting.
