The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on Monday celebrated the 30th independence anniversary of the country, according to the Azerbaijani embassy in Amman.

A statement by the embassy today said that modern Azerbaijan is an extension of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, founded on May 28, 1918 as the first democratic republic in the Islamic East, and was based on an integrated system of freedom, and humanity.

Azeri President Ilham Aliyev managed, in a short period of time, to change the country from the state of confusion that prevailed in the early nineties to the prospects of national prosperity and progress, the statement indicated, noting the country’s development and achievements in various fields.

“Azerbaijan became a non-permanent member state of the United Nations Security Council for the term 2012-2013 and chaired the Non-Aligned Movement (2019-2023),” it highlighted.
